Carol began learning the bassoon at the age of 11 with Helen Tumulty. In 2000 she was a junior member of the Guildhall School of Music, where she held the John Myatt bassoon scholarship, and studied with Bob Porter. Carol was awarded a place at Cheetham's in Manchester where her teachers were Graham Salvage and Steve Magee
At the Royal Academy of Music in London, she studied with John Orford and David Chatterton for contra bassoon. Carol is also a trained dental nurse (all dental problems within the quintet receive expert advice and attention!). She is in great demand as a chamber and orchestral player.
